Wonton/Eggroll


Ingredients


1 lb ground beef

3 garlic cloves - fine minced

1 Tsp fresh ginger - chopped

1 Tbsp soy sauce

1 Tsp sesame oil

3 carrots - finely diced or shredded

6 green onions - finely diced

Salt and pepper to taste

1 package wonton wrappers
or eggroll wrappers

water for sealing edges

oil for deep frying


Directions


Mix everything but the wrapper,water and oil in a large bowl.

Place a heaping teaspoon full of the mix on each wonton wrapper.

Using your finger,"paint" 2 edges of the wrapper with water,fold over (fold into any shape you like) and press edges together to seal.

For eggrolls, place in center of wrapper and roll up into a "log".

Heat oil to 450 degrees and fry 4 to 5 at a time until golden brown.

Drain on paper towels and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

This basic recipe can be used for either wontons or egg rolls.

Variations - use pork or chicken instead of ground beef.

Add chopped water chestnuts,onions,bell peppers,shredded cabbage,bean sprouts,or other ingredients you like.

Another variation is to mix tuna with softened cream cheese omitting the veggies and spices.
