Oven BBQ Beef Brisket


1 3-4 lb beef brisket

1 1/4 cup water

1/2 cup onion-chopped

3 cloves garlic-minced

1 tbsp oil

1 cup ketchup

3 tbsp red wine vinegar

2 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp worcestershire sauce

2 tsp cornstarch

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp chili powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1/4 tsp liquid smoke


Place the brisket in a large dutch oven or baking dishwith 1/2 cup of the water.

Cover and bake at 275 for 2 hours.

For the sauce

In a large pan,saute the onion and garlic in the oil til onions are tender.

Add the ketchup,the remaining 3/4 cup water and all ingredients except for the liquid smoke.

Simmer,uncovered,for 1 hour,stirring occasionally.

Add the liquid smoke and blend well.

Remove the brisket from the oven and drain off the drippings,saving them for another use.

Return it to the baking dish and pour the sauce over the brisket.

Cover and bake for another 1-2 hours or til meat is tender.
