Dobash Cake


For the cake

1 1/2 block butter

1 1/2 cup sugar

2 eggs

2 3/4 cup flour

1/2 tsp salt

1//2 pint sour cream

2 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

For the icing

2 cups water

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1/3 cup cornstarch


For the cake

Mix the sour cream with the vanilla.

Mix the water,cocoa powder and baking soda.

Cream the butter and sugar.

Add eggs 1 at a time.

Mix the flour and salt together.

Alternately add the flour and sour cream to the butter mixture.

Stir in the cocoa mixture.

Pour into a greased 9x13 and bake aa 350 for 35-40 min or til tests done with a toothpick(or use 2 8 inch round cake pans and bake for 25-30 min.

Keep cake warm.

For the icing.

Bring 1 1/2 cup water to a boil.

Add in the sugar,butter and salt and stir til sugar is dissolved and butter is melted.

Mix the cocoa,cornstarch and remaining water together and add to the hot mixture.

Keep stirring til the mixture thickens.

Spread icing on cake while still hot.
