Grandma C's Gold Cake


8 egg yolks

1 1/4 cup sugar

3/4 cup butter

3/4 cup milk

2 1/2 cups cake flour

3 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp lemon extract

1/2 tsp salt


Sift together flour, and baking powder 3 times.

Cream butter and sugar thoroughly.

Beat yolks till light and fluffy.

Add beaten yolks to the creamed butter and sugar and beat well.

Add flavor, milk, and sifted flour and mix well.

Pour into greased and floured cake pans or a 13x9 in. pan.

Bake at 380 deg. for 20-30 minutes or until cakes test done.

Cool throughly before frosting.

Grandma used to make this for my cousin's birthday as it was her favorite. She would use a coconut icing but use whatever you like.
