Microwave Mug Cakes

Enjoy these 3 versions of the classic microwave cake in a mug


#1 Classic Chocolate

4 Tbsp flour

4 Tbsp sugar

2 Tbsp cocoa powder

1 egg

3 Tbsp milk

3 Tbsp oil

3 Tbsp chocolate chips (optional)

Some nuts (optional)

Small splash of vanilla

#2 Hot Cocoa Chocoate

9 Tbsp. hot chocolate powder mix

4 Tbsp. flour

1 egg

3 Tbsp. oil

3 Tbsp. water

Pinch of salt

#3 Honeybun Coffee Cake

1/3 cup yellow cake mix

1 egg white

2 Tsp. oil

1 Tbsp. water

*Topping Mix(optional)

2 Tsp. brown sugar

1 Tsp. finely chopped pecans

1/4 Tsp. cinnamon


For all three cakes, the basic directions are the same.

You will ned a large coffee mug or a microwave safe dish for each cake.

Spray the inside of the mug with a nonstick spray.

Add dry ingredients to your mug, and mix well.

Add the egg and mix thoroughly.

Pour in the milk and oil and mix to until all ingredients are well incorporated.

For cake #1,add vanilla,the chips and nuts (if using) and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes on high.

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

Serves 1-2

* Sprinkle topping on the cake during the last minute of cooking. For a lighter cake, use cake flour in place of regular flour, You can make your own cake flour by sifting together 1 cup flour with 2 Tbsp cornstarch. Whole wheat flour can also be used but it will give a much "heavier" cake. Substitute all or part of the oil with applesauce for a healthier cake. You can also use a sugar free hot cocoa mix or use one with the mini marshmallowd mixed in.
