Aunt V's Peanut Brittle


3 cups sugar

1 Tsp baking soda

1/4 cup butter
(no substitutes)

1 Lb shelled,raw peanuts


In a heavy pan,over medium to medium low heat and stirring often,slowly "cook" the sugar until it has all melted and turned a golden brown color.

Remove the melted sugar from the heat and quickly stir in the butter,peanuts and lastly the baking soda(the soda will make it "foamy").

Stir well then pour mixture onto a buttered cookie sheet.

When cool, break into pieces of desired size.

Store in an air tight container.
