Old Fashion Peanut Brittle


2 cups sugar

1 cup light corn syrup

1/2 cup water

1 cup butter

1 cups of peanuts

1 teaspoon of baking soda


Combine the sugar,corn syrup and water in a heavy pan and bring to a boil.

Add the butter and continue to let it boil,stirring occasionally.

When it reaches 280 deg. on candy thermometer, begin stirring frequently and mix in the peanuts.

Stir constantly til 305 deg. on the candy thermometer.

Remove from heat and stir in the baking soda.

Pour onto a flat,buttered cookie sheet to cool.

Break into pieces when cooled.
