Sweet Dumplings


1 lightly beaten egg

1 Tbsp melted shortening

1/2 cup milk

3/4 cup flour

1/4 cup sugar

1/2 Tsp salt

Fruit Soup of choice*


Add shortening and milk to the egg.

Stir in flour, sugar and salt, stirring vigorously until smooth.

Drop by teaspoonful into boiling fruit soup.

*Fruit Soup

Take about 1 quart fruit of choice (blueberries,blackberries,etc and place in heavy pan with water to cover approx 1 inch and sugar to taste. Bring to a rolling boil and then slowly add cornstarch to obtain your desired thickness but keep it on the "soupy" side to cook the sweet dumplings.

Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
