Grandma B's Chocolate Pie


24 tablespoons cocoa powder - 1 1/2 cup

2 tablespoons unsalted butter - softened

4 eggs

1 cup sugar

3 1/2 cups milk

6 tablespoons cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla


Melt the butter,add the cocoa powder and mix til smooth.

In a bowl beat the eggs and sugar til thick and yellow.

Heat the milk (do not let it boil) then add some to the egg mixture and mix til smooth.

Pour back into the rest of the milk and heat just till it comes to a simmer.

Mix in the cornstarch,salt,cocoa/butter mixture and vanilla.

Cook til thick then pour into pre-baked pie shell.

If you want a meringue pie just top with meringue and bake at 450 til meringue is light brown.
