Homemade Tahini


4 cups sesame seeds

1/4 - 1/2 cup oil
olive,peanut or vegetable


Spread seeds on a shallow baking pan and toast in a 350 deg oven for 8-10 min. but do not let them burn.

Once seeds are toasted and cooled,put them in a blender or food processor and begin slowly adding the oil.

Continue processing until seeds are ground and mixture is of a smooth pouring consistency, using only as much oil as needed.

Store in refrigerator and use within 1 month.

Use to flavor soups/stews,or other dishes.

Mix with ground garbanzo beans(chickpeas) to make Hummus.
