French Onion Soup
Ingredients
4 large,sweet onions
2 Tbsp butter
1/2 C. red wine
1 Tsp sugar
2 cans beef or vegetable stock
1/2 Tsp red sea salt
or kosher salt
1/8 Tsp pepper
1 Tsp soy sauce
start with 1/2 tea. and add more if needed but no more than the 1 tsp.
Directions
In a large skillet, carmelize the onions in the butter and sugar.
Deglaze skillet with the red wine
In a large pot,heat stock,salt,pepper and soy sauce.
Add in carmelized onions and heat just to bubbling.
Add a couple splashes of cognac or brandy just before serving.
